Tuong Phuong, born in Saigon, Vietnam, studied physics and dance at the University of California/Irvine,

New York's Balanchine School of American Ballet and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center.

From 1984 to 1998, Tuong Phuong danced the title role at the Tanz-Forum of the Cologne Opera in, among others, "The Wonderful Mandarain", "Daphne and Chloe", "Nutcracker" and "Mäusekönig"and "Coppelia".

He worked with Nada Kokotovic, Theater TKO Cologne, in "HotelEuropa", "Drei Schwestern" and "Paarsamkeit" with Catharina Gadelha in "Leib".

Since 2003, he has been a qualified dance teacher at the Center for Contemporary Dance at the Cologne University of Music.

Tuong Phuong worked in Jochen Ulrich's TanzForum at the Opera of the City of Cologne, Nada Kokotovic's Theater TKO Cologne and with 687Performance.

In 2011, together with Yoshiko Waki and Andre Jolles, he received the Cologne Dance Theater Prize for the 687Performance production “Loss of Control”.

Tuong Phuong teaches dance and movement theory at the Rheinische Tanzakademie Cologne, various dance schools and the Keller drama school.
